Mandy George is a registered clinical psychologist and one of the clinical leads/educators at the clinic. She has been practising since 2010 and has expertise in providing psychological treatment for various mental health difficulties (such as anxiety, depression, OCD, and other mood disorders), as well as neurodiversity affirming therapy for neurodevelopmental conditions (such as ADHD, Specific Learning Difficulties, and Autism).
Being a psychology board-approved supervisor, Mandy also supervises provisional psychologists on placement at the clinic. Mandy enjoys working with people of all ages, with a special interest in child and adolescent mental health issues, such as emotional and behavioural problems, anxiety and mood disorders, parenting and attachment issues, and difficulties related to neurodivergence. She also has experience in supporting people with trauma, grief and loss, and interpersonal issues.
Mandy’s practice is informed by evidence-based approaches in clinical psychology, child development, neurodiversity, relational neuroscience, and attachment theory. She is familiar with and competent in delivering Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness practices.
Mandy is also a Circle of Security Parenting Program (COSP) facilitator and utilises COSP approaches when working with children and their carers.

Dr Barbour is an experienced Dietitian with many years of both hospital and private practice dietetic experience, which has provided her with a broad scope of practice and seen her develop a wide range of nutritional interests, including women’s health, sports nutrition, low FODMAPs diet and a weight neutral approach to a healthy lifestyle. Dr Barbour also has lectured in nutrition to students at Adelaide University and Flinders university for 10 years and has developed a passion for working with students and University staff.

Kate Walker is the Speech Pathologist on our team who specialises in delivering this program.
Kate (she/they) is the founder of affirm & thrive . She is a Certified Praciticing Speech Pathologist, Naturopath, Sound Therapist and LGBTQIA+ Advocate.
Her background in music theatre led her down the path of Speech Pathology and she has now been working in the field for over 14 years. Kate has had a diverse career working in voice, swallowing, and upper airway disorders in acute, rehabilitation and community settings. Their love of voice and passion for LGBTQIA+ advocacy made working in the gender-affirming space a natural progression.
In 2020, alongside Northside Health NT and with the support of the La Trobe Voice and Communication Clinic, they set up the first Gender Voice Clinic in Darwin after seeing a big gap in services. She has also worked with the Gender Voice Centre providing online services to transgender and non-binary folk.
As a qualified Naturopath Kate brings a holistic approach to all that she does. She believes that a healthy body requires a healthy community to live in – and sees her role as tending to both the individual and the collective. Kate takes a neuro-affirming approach and aims to provide a safe and welcoming environment for neurodivergent people.
Kate’s vision for affirm & thrive is to provide the space for LGBTQIA+ folk to thrive in body, mind and spirit.

Having worked in health, education, disability, early intervention and private practice; Susan is an experienced clinician who enjoys working with children who have communication difficulties. Her areas of expertise are speech, language & literacy.
Working with families and caregivers and other health professionals is an integral part of her work.
She is a registered certified practitioner with Speech Pathology
Australia holding degrees in Speech Pathology and Special Education. Susan is also a clinical educator of speech pathology students studying at Adelaide University which she finds very rewarding.
When not working, Susan enjoys anything creative, traveling, gardening, cooking, being outdoors, and dance including classical ballet to keep fit.
